Introduction: A story all about me!

Hello my fellow readers! My name is Devin Dill and I am currently a senior at the University of Oklahoma working on obtaining a bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering. Chemical engineering is a really amazing degree because there are almost endless possibilities on what career paths that you can take with it and because of this i'm excited to see where this path takes me for my future career. When I'm not studying hard at school I'm usually at the gym working out. Working out is a big hobby of mine, and i enjoy doing it very much. When i'm at the gym i feel like i'm at home and nothing else matters in the world. Speaking of home, the place I really call home is in Tulsa, Oklahoma where me and my family grew up. At home along with my mom, dad, and sister and the two best friends a man could ask for. These two best friends are named Bentley and Jack. Bentley is a Yorkshire Terrier and loves tennis balls more than any other dog in the world. Jack is a Cocker Spaniel and is the most lovable dog that has ever lived.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love to eat food. I could eat food all day, every day and never get even a little bit tired of food. My absolute favorite kind of food is Mexican. I literally could eat only mexican food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the rest of my life and never get tired of  eating it, not even a little. My favorite mexican place to eat at would be Mexico Lindo in Tulsa, Oklahoma and when I don't have time to go sit down to eat I will always be happy to eat at my second favorite mexican place, Taco Bell.

  1. Hey Devin! I gotta say that working out is probably one of my favorite hobbies too. While I first started lifting for aesthetics, it has become more of a mental challenge than a physical one. As someone that used to have absolutely no willpower when it came to exercising, working out has taught me so much about self-discipline and having to actually put in effort to reach my goals if I actually want to achieve them and that has definitely translated over into my academic career. I look forward to having you in my class this semester!

  2. Hi Devin! I live in Bixby and thought I knew all the Mexican places around Tulsa, but I've never heard of that one. Definitely going to have to give it a try because I love pretty much all Mexican food as well. I might have to mix in some Chinese or Italian as well, but we eat Mexican several nights a week. I've gotten pretty good at cooking it & trying new recipes. Chemical Engineering is another major I would not have the guts to try but I admire you for doing it. I like working out (weights) , but lack the willpower to make myself do it often. Between work, school, and family, usually all I have left is the energy and time to sleep.

  3. Hey Devin,
Congrats on making it this far in chemical engineering. From what I've heard, it's not easy. I'm usually kind of a picky eater, but for Mexican food I try to ignore that because it's just so good. The picture you included with your post is actually making me hungry right now. Do you have any recommendations for good Mexican restaurants in or around Norman?

  4. Hi Devin! I'm Ethan!

I work out a lot too. Though not really by choice lol. I have to because I'm an OU athlete. My family owns a couple of dogs as well. Right now, they're both Chihuahuas. I also love Mexican food but I'm pretty adventurous when it comes to all types. I like food like Indian, Greek, and Thai as well.

  5. This is so cool about being a chemical engineering major, Devin: I've lost track of all the different kinds of engineering majors in class this semester, but you are the first chemical engineering major (so far anyway). My husband would definitely approve; he was a chemistry major in college (and then he became a meteorologist). Of course they don't have chemicals per se in myths and folklore, but there are all kinds of magical substances: real metals with supernatural powers, or substances not of this world like the philosopher's stone, made famous by Harry Potter. If you are interested in learning about that whole alchemical tradition, you could definitely do that in this class; Wikipedia is full of great information about alchemy, both scientific and mythical. :-)

  6. Hey Devin! That's awesome. I think Chemical Engineering is a fascinating field. I'm also in engineering, but I'm only a sophomore. I'm also from Tulsa too (well actually Broken Arrow). I really enjoy Mexican food too on the occasion, but I really dislike Tex-Mex. Whenever I want to eat Mexican, I'll usually go to the taco truck on 21st and Garnett.

  7. Hello Devin! Chemical engineering sounds like it is pretty tough but definitely do-able! I am a general science major with a focus in Pharmacy! Working out is great hobby to have and a good lifestyle habit to have. I like Mexican food as well. I actually work at Ted's Cafe here in Norman. you should come and eat there one of these days. Ima have to try Mexico Lindo when I go to Tulsa. There is also a really good Mexican restaurant in Moore called Lazy Donkey and they have good Happy Hour prices ! Have a great semester!

  8. Hi Devin!
I also love Mexican food. Have you ever been to Chuy's? It's the best Mexican place in Norman, in my opinion. They have like, ten different kinds of salsa. It's amazing. The taco truck on Porter, between Alameda and Main, is also really good (I go there at least once a week). I love their gorditas, and they're so cheap, it's amazing.
Best of luck with your senior year!

  9. Hi Devin! I'm currently sitting here trying to imagine Bentley with a tennis ball. We had a Yorkie who would always carry around a stuffed rabbit that she loved more than anything, except it was almost as big as she was! It always made my family laugh because she'd walk into the room and you'd see the rabbit, not her. Mexican food for you sounds a lot like Chinese for me, so I completely understand being able to eat it every single meal. Good luck this semester, finish strong!

  10. Hi, Devin! I really enjoyed reading your introduction and learning more about you! I love hearing about your pet, Bentley! I am a huge animal lover (especially dogs) so I could listen to someone talk about their pets for hours. I do love Mexican food, although I am not a fan of beans, tomatoes, or anything spicy. I tend to go more for the rice and queso. But, Italian food is definitely my all time favorite! I am Italian so pasta has always been my favorite food! Good luck on your senior year!

  11. Hi, Devin! I really enjoy the tone in which you write, its descriptive but also sounds conversational. Not only do I love your writing, I especially love it when you describe your love of Mexican food. It really is the best! Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. I am much like you, I work out to eat! Good luck finishing your senior year and beyond!

  12. Hi Devin, my boyfriend is a chemical engineering major too! He's going towards a biomedical engineering path for grad school, but I agree with you when you say there are almost endless possibilities with the major. I wish you had pictures of your dogs! I grew up with animals my whole life and currently I have a dog living up with me in Norman, his name is Benji and he is half Havanese half Miniature Schnauzer. I could also eat food all day long, and Mexican food is one of my favorite foods too. It was nice meeting you!

  13. Hey Devin,
That's awesome that you're gonna be finishing a chem E degree. I always found chemistry interesting but I wouldn't ever say that I excelled at it in particular. I can't imagine the amount of chemistry you'd have to do if that was your major, sounds tough! I have to agree with you, it does feel great when you exercise. I hate the process of getting to the gym but once I'm there and get through the workout I feel great when I'm done. Good luck this Fall!

  14. Hey Devin, I liked reading your intro you seem like a cool guy to be around. I know how rigorous Chem E is let alone Engineering so I commend you on getting through the program and being close to obtaining that degree. I also find it amazing how you are able to balance time between studying and working out. I love Mexican food as well but I never heard of Mexico Lindo, I will have to look into that place if I ever go to Tulsa. Good Luck to you in your endeavors.

  15. Hi Devin!

Congrats on making it so far in chemical engineering! Working out is not a huge hobby of mine (could actually do more, maybe I will start yoga?), but I do share the love of food! And I understand the feeling of doing something that makes you forget every thing else that is going on in the world and life. As I grew up just outside of Norman, I do consider Tulsa to be a second home. Both of my parents are from Tulsa, and I still have most of my extended family living there. I have never heard of Mexico Lindo, where is that at in Tulsa? In high school, when I was playing sports and working out all the time, I never really got full when eating. Just tired of eating the same thing lol

  16. Hey Devin,

That's an awesome degree you have there. For a long time I considered doing that or something with medicine. Then I took chemistry, and even though I made about the highest B you can make without it being an A, I still decided against that route. But props to you for sticking to it, and hopefully you enjoy it as well!

  17. Hi Devin,

I am impressed by your major! I am not talented in the math/science area so I always admire people that are. I noticed that you said you were from Tulsa! I am from Norman but I lived in Tulsa this summer for an internship I had. I absolutely loved it! It was such a fun and young city and I was sad to leave it. Best of luck with the rest of your semester!

  18. Hey Devin! I am pretty jealous you love to workout. After about five minutes I give up because of a lack of motivation. Also Chemical Engineering! That is so cool. We are pretty opposite as I don't like working out, engineering or Mexican food. none of that is up my alley but if you are interested in Asian food I can show you the way!

  19. Hi Devin! Chemical engineering sounds really cool! Congratulations on graduating soon and looking forward to your future career. Is there a specific area in chemical engineering that you want to go into? Bentley and Jack sound so cute! Dogs are awesome. Mexican food is a great choice for a favorite. I agree that it is some of the best food out there!

  20. Hi there Devin! I started off as a Chem E major when I originally got to OU. It was definitely a hard major and I wanted focus on the biotechnology side and eventually switched over to Microbiology before I did planned program up to my current major. The subject matter was always interesting and you do have a huge amount of possibilities for a future career. I have a friend who is also super into food with the last name Dill! He has an instagram called Diningwithdill that you might be interested in checking out too when you have the time. Good luck this semester!
