Cat Meme Source:  Cheezburger For this weeks tech tip I chose to make a LOLcat at Cheezburger . This website allows you to make a meme out of a huge selection of animal pictures. You can make a meme about anything your heart desires and it super easy. All you do it choose a picture, type what you want to be on top, the middle, or in the bottom, and that's it! You can even have the font be different sizes and colors. I made a Christmas cat meme since Thanksgiving just ended!

Tech Tip: Browser Bookmarks

Image
A book with a bookmark Source: Pixnio For this weeks tech tip I decided to talk about Browser Bookmarks. Browser bookmarks is an extremely useful tool if you visit the same site often. To make a bookmark, all you have to do is click the store in the URL bar and save it with a name. I usually bookmark sites such as canvas, which is use everyday for school, and also my email because I check it often. Browser bookmarks has saved me so much time in school because I can just simply click to these sites instantly. One little tip I would recommend is to have bookmarks to each class page that way you can pull them up at any point in time.

typing game tech tip

Cat with ninja headband Source:  Deviantart For this weeks tech tip I decided to write about the typing game Ninja Cat and the Zombie Dinosaurs. This game is a fun typing game that has a cat that walks around different areas and you have to type out words to kill the zombie dinosaurs before they kill you;. This game i thought was actually really fun and I actually got into it after a couple levels. Playing this game for awhile definitely helps your typing skills improve because as the level picks up your having to type faster and faster and you don't even notice it. One thing I do recommend doing before playing this game is to first change to the difficulty to medium or hard if your a good at typing because easy was too easy. tech tip: text to voice

Image
Open Book Source:  Pixabay For this weeks tech tip I decide to write about text to voice. This is a google chrome extension that allows you to highlight any sentence or paragraph and it will be read to you out loud. This extension is actually really helpful for writing for a couple different reasons. The first reason is that it lets your hear your story out loud which helps you know if you story flows or not. The second reason is that it will help detect any spelling or grammatical errors because it wont be read write if it is. I will also sometime use this tool when I want to kind of sit back and relax while listening to a story that we have to each week. Audiobooks really are great when your tired and lose track of your reading easily.

Tech Tip: Word Counter

Image
Word count of 2200 sign source:  Wikimedia For this weeks tech tip I chose to write about the google chrome extension, word counter. Word counter is an extremely helpful tool that will count how many words you have in a paragraph at the click of a button. It is extremely helpful for a class like this where you have a word minimum and maximum on certain blogs. Before using this tool I was copying my paragraphs into Microsoft Word which took some time because I had to open up Microsoft Word then copy it in, but now I can get the count at the click of a button. I would highly recommend getting this extension.

Tech Tip: Canvas Mobile App

Image
Canvas Source: Wikipedia The tech tip that I did this week was over the Canvas App for the University of Oklahoma. This app allows you to view your grades, homework, or any other class information that your teacher has provided all conveniently on your mobile device. My personal experience with this app has been amazing. I am able to check my grade wherever I am for any test or assignment whenever I want. Also I receive notification on when grades are put in or homework assignments are put up so that is also an extremely helpful feature. I would 100% recommend having this app if you have a mobile phone and attend the University of Oklahoma.

Google Timer Tech Tip

Image
Stopwatch source:  123RF The google timer is a great thing you can use at any time while on your computer. All you have to do is simply going to google and search timer and it will appear right under the search box. This timer can be used for many things but I think the best two things to use it for are for study breaks. Whenever you doing homework a really long time you can often get very distracted and the amount of work you do slows down. So this timer can be used to take a study break for a certain amount of time so you can go back to doing homework feeling refreshed.

Tech Tip: Typing Test

Image
typewriter source:  Pixabay For my tech tip I will be talking about a typing test. The site  keyhero  allows you to type out a phrase and it will evaluate your typed words per minute and accuracy. My evaluation was 67.34 wpm with a 90.26% accuracy. I tried another site called  typing test  and on this site you type for a minute straight and then it give you the our words per minute speed with amount of errors and adjust the speed. For this site I got 82 wpm with 10 errors and adjusted it to be 72 wpm. I like the typing test site because it adjust your rate for the amount of mistake you have. Both these sites are great though if your looking to improve your typing speed. Personally I think my typing speed is perfect for what I need so I don't need to work on it anymore but it is fun to race myself.
