Image
Story now in:  My Portfolio Couple in a car Source:  Pexels Once upon a time there was a man and a woman who were happily married. One day this married couple decided to go out and grab a bite to eat. In the car the man ask "what would you like to eat honey?" the woman then replied "I don't care". So the man said alright were going to Chipotle and the woman then replied with a no to Chipotle because she just had it the other day. So the man then suggested that they go to Mcdonalds because he had some coupons for a buy one get one free burger there. The woman quickly shut that option down saying that she wants better quality food than that and also something that has healthy option to choose from. The man then came up with the idea of going to a sit down restaurant like Texas Road house but the woman didn't want to because the next episode of the Bachelor was coming on in an hour and she absolutely could not miss that for anything. As tension started r

up close picture of the moon to see the rocks that form the shape of a man source: Wikipedia The Man in the Moon  by  Katherine Neville Fleeson This is a short story about how the rocks on the moon came to look like a man. There was once a blacksmith who complained about the problems he had as a blacksmith. The man said things like how he is not well and it is too hot so he wished he could be a stone on a mountain where it was cool. This magical man that heard the blacksmith granted him this wish and the blacksmith become a stone on the mountain. After so long the blacksmith didn't like being a stone and wanted to be a stone cutter and the magical man agreed once more. The blacksmith kept complaining about what he was and the magical man kept changing him until he got to be the moon at which he wanted to go back to being a blacksmith but the magical man was tired of the changing and left the blacksmith as a moon. I like how the story had a deeper message behind it as the st

After scrolling through the different units on the Untextbook I noticed quite a few units that caught my eye but the three units that I thought I would enjoy most were  Japanese Mythology ,  Egyptian Myth , and the  Monkey King . A book and coffee Source: Pixabay Japanese Mytholog y caught my attention because Japanese stories always seem to be a fun read and have quite unique plots which really keep my attention. I chose  Egyptian Myth  because I've have always had an interest in Egyptian history and the stories behind what they did and how they were so advanced in technology for their time. When I first saw the  Monkey King  unit I knew it had to be a must read. I have watched movies about the monkey king growing up and have always had an interest in it, so i am really excited to dive into this unit.

Time strategies

The two articles that I read for time management were "How to Beat Procrastination" by Caroline Webb and "4 Questions to Help You Overcome Procrastination" by Peter Banerjea. I chose both of these articles because procrastination is my number one problem that sets me back overall in most things I do. I am a very easily distracted person and seem to put stuff off so I thought these article would be a good read to maybe help me no procrastinate anymore. This semester I plan to try and work on everything early so i never get behind. Picture of a clock Source:  Maxpixel How to Beat Procrastination by Caroline Webb In this article it talks about how the brain is programmed to want to procrastinate. We are naturally made to want the reward of now instead of what comes later just because we would much rather have satisfaction faster. To help prevent it was said that you should picture the end result and and why you want it and keep it in mind. 4 Questions to Help

Technology

A desktop computer and keyboard Source:  Wikimedia I like how this class is not set up as any usual class that is normally taken. Its a whole different style than what i'm use to and I do really enjoy it. With this creative online type style comes a lot of different kinds of computer tools that are used and need to be learned. Some of the things i'm looking forward to learn are the website publishing and graphic creations. I've always wanted to publish my own website and with the graphic creations ill even be able to have my own memes on the website!

Assignments: My thoughts

Golden Retriever puppy Source: Pixabay After looking through the class assignments that we will be having in the future for this class I can honestly say I am excited to do some of them. The ones that caught my interest the most were the Wikipedia trails and tech tips assignments. The Wikipedia trails assignment look honestly like it will be fun to just play around with and see where you end up at for the end of your assignment. The tech Tips one I like because I would like to get better at making these blogs look the best they can be. Overall I say this class will be actually really enjoyable and really help explore my creative side.

Growth Mindset

I may fail but i am never a failure cat meme Source:  Growthmindset Before today i have never heard of the TED talk about Growth Mindset by Carol Dweck but after watching it i find the topic very interesting. I find that not celebrating results like letter grades and encouraging the process to grow is a much better way to live life. when results are all that is care about it becomes a closed minded path in which people just do what it takes to get the best results. When the process is encouraged and the student is is encouraged to learn and grow then much better results come from it. This is actually something i have noticed while study here at the University of Oklahoma. As classes got harder in my major i realized that i can no longer just sit down, learn, and hope for the best. I've learned that I need to actually sit down and get into what i'm learning and feel rewarded from the growth i'm making in the major and from this my results have improved in the end.

Introduction: A story all about me!

Image
Hello my fellow readers! My name is Devin Dill and I am currently a senior at the University of Oklahoma working on obtaining a bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering. Chemical engineering is a really amazing degree because there are almost endless possibilities on what career paths that you can take with it and because of this i'm excited to see where this path takes me for my future career. When I'm not studying hard at school I'm usually at the gym working out. Working out is a big hobby of mine, and i enjoy doing it very much. When i'm at the gym i feel like i'm at home and nothing else matters in the world. Speaking of home, the place I really call home is in Tulsa, Oklahoma where me and my family grew up. At home along with my mom, dad, and sister and the two best friends a man could ask for. These two best friends are named Bentley and Jack. Bentley is a Yorkshire Terrier and loves tennis balls more than any other dog in the world. Jack is a Cocker Span

Looking through this absolutely amazing  list of over 100 unique stories to read I ended up having three different stories that stood out to me the most to where i wanted to dive more in depth into them and write about them. These three stories all had a calling to me where they either peaked my interest in some sort of way or I could relate to the story in a personal way. The three stories I chose can  be seen below. Picture of a stack of books Source: Publicdomainpictures Boo-Mer Sooner: Freshman Year This story stood out to me because of how well I could relate to it since I attend the same school as where the story is told. The introduction reeled me in with being able to relate on the first day of move in just knowing what they are going through. Also reading scary stories about a place that you go to just about every day really made the story just that much more appealing to read.
